Hi [First Name], My grandmother, Elgene Lund, turned 101 today. Born in 1924, raised in a poor family in Chisago City, Minnesota, she’s lived through the Great Depression, World War II, the moon landing, the civil rights movement, the internet, and 19 presidents. But what defines her isn’t just the history she’s seen—it’s the life she’s lived: as a caregiver, a nurse, a mother of four, and a pillar of our family. She is, in every sense, living history. Celebrating her today reminds me just how important it is to tell our stories. To preserve the people and places that shaped us. To make sense of where we’ve been.
